Thin For You Thursday (on Saturday)

Hello Lovelies!

It's been a long time since I've posted on the blog.  I took a vacation to regroup, and now I'm really excited to be returning to blog-land!

It's also been a long time since I've done a Thin For You Thursday post.  If you recall, Thin For You Thursdays started as a way to share real-life weight loss and body acceptance with my readers.  You can read all about it in my first Thin For You Thursday post here. Losing weight can be a very difficult journey.  And it has been for me.

But I am really excited to show you the progress I have had on my weight loss journey!

See my BEFORE and AFTER after the break...

The "before" photo on the left was taken at the beginning of July.  The after photo on the right was taken this past Thursday (October 27).  My weight loss during this period of time is approximately 27 lbs.   And I have lost 10 1/2" from my waist, thighs, hips and upper arms.  I still have around 15 pounds to go until I reach my goal weight.  But I am more than happy with the success I am having so far.

I want to interrupt my post here to state that this post is NOT a sponsored post.  But I do want to share with you what I have been doing to lose my weight.

The program which I have been using - which has been a favorite of mine since I used it to lose weight after I had my babies - is Weight Watchers. I lost around 5 lbs. on my own before starting Weigh Watchers and have lost over 21 pounds since starting the program at the end of July.

The thing that I love about Weight Watchers is that it helps me to make good choices with real-life food.  I am not disparaging any other weight loss programs when I say this, but - in my opinion -  the programs that provide you with all of the food don't really teach you how to make good choices which is something that I feel Weight Watchers does very well.

One of the other things that works really well for me about this particular program is attending meetings.  I realize that not everyone is motivated this way, but for me, attending meetings and being weighed-in there is real motivator.  I enjoy hearing the success stories and challenges of the other members...and for me, knowing that someone is going to be weighing me in and seeing my progress (or lack thereof) helps me to be honest with myself.

Another thing that has really helped me in my journey so far is tracking what I eat.  This is something that I have done every time I have lost weight since having my second baby 13+ years ago.  Keeping track of how much food I am consuming really helps to keep it under control.  So many times we can be distracted while we're eating and not realize how much is actually going into our mouths.  Or we can snack on little things throughout the day and not realize how quickly those calories add up.  With Weight Watchers, I track points rather than calories...and the formula that they use to calculate points has been a game changer for me because it encourages me to choose things with less sugar and more protein.   It still surprises me sometimes how much hidden sugar is in so many of the things I used to eat all the time.

Now that I have lost as much weight as I have, my weight loss is slowing down some.  So in the next few weeks, I am going to be upping  my work out regimen.  I am also looking to get a Fitbit or another fitness tracker.  I would love to hear suggestions from you, my readers, as to your favorite fitness trackers.  Let me know in the comments!

If you have any questions, I'd love to hear them too!

Wendy, that is awesome! I have missed your blog and I'm glad you're back. I've been slowly losing since February (down 15 lbs) and it's definitely not easy. Kudos to you for your hard work - you look fabulous. :)
