The Chalkboard...at last~
Remember my big bare kitchen wall? Pretty in this photo...but lacking something in reality?

Here's what it looks like today. My chalkboard is finally complete!

Here's the cost breakdown (prices are rounded up)...
I'd say that's a pretty good deal! And just the statement piece I was looking for in this space.

Thanks to the Hubby for helping me with this project!!
Have a great day~

LOOOOOVE the chalkboard in the kitchen and it is something I have been planning on doing - perhaps this was my push! Thank you!!!
Cute project. Homemade chalkboards are always being done on HGTV, but I never think to do one myself.
By the way - just fyi to you and your readers - a little Valentine's Day Giveaway on my blog - just because.
Just in case anyone is interested.
It looks fabulous. You did a great job.
Be sure to post to one of my parties,
Cheri
You did a wonderful job. I have made a smaller version using a vintage frame but have always wanted to make a larger one for a wall.
Love it! It is perfect on that wall!
Hmm...that looks like a great project for around my house. I love the idea of using it as a menu! Mr. S. and I may need to talk about making this happen!
love it! amazing job!
Ooh...I love chalkboards! Yours is fabulous. Do you mind if I ask what color your walls are painted?
Very nice.
We did something similar on the back of our kitchen door. Nice to have a reminder of what you need to get/what activities are going on as you walk out!
That looks awesome! I like it better than PB's, too. Do you think you could share how you attached the frame to the chalkboard? This is something I'd like to do in our home. Thanks!
Love it! Love all things chalkboard! I just converted an old window to a weekly planner and I'm happy with how that turned out, too! You just can't go wrong with chalkboard paint :)
Of course, it's darling - gotta love kids' enthusiasm. I am loving the wall behind it. Is it a taupe with a glaze?
I like yours better than the one at PB!
You've got me thinking now about some large old frames I have!!
Thanks for posting all the pics!

Love it! Great job - I want one too!
Oh it's so cute! I re-did a small room off our living room into a playroom this summer and painted the bottom half of one whole wall with first magnetic paint (didn't work so well, may be re-doing it with more coats of magnet paint) then chalkboard paint over it. Of course it was AFTER I did the chalkboard that I found Martha Stewarts instructions on how to make custom colored chalkboard paint :-/ oh well! Love the kitchen chalk boards and will probably do it on a separate underlayment board like yours for the kitchen one :)
Thanks for sharing!!
With those natural born artists in the house, how long did the menu last?
Love it!
I like your cb better than PB's too. It's a great size for the wall.
Your chalkboard rocks and your little "seasoners" are adorable!
So happy it's all done now. Enjoy!
Luv it! How cute that the kids got into it!
It looks really great!!!
So cool! It will be loverly when my hubby has enough time that I could consider asking him to build me something like that. :)
I love it! What a nice size, too!
LOVE IT! It turned out beautiful! ツ
looks great wendy!!!
Very nice! And so much better since you made it yourself and saved a lot of $$! Way to go!
Blessings, Grace

The perfect statement piece, I'd say! Congratulations on having it work out so well!
So beautiful and I love the slideshow you did! What a great memory!
I did one of these as well...I feel so much better knowing I didnt pay 100 for mine! Great job!!
Very nice! And indeed a much better deal than the PB one. Thanks for sharing!
Love how the chalkboard turned out. Looks fabulous!!

Nice job! I am on the lookout for chalkboard inspiration. I have yet to find the perfect one for me!
It's perfect! You should screw tin cans in the wall below it to hold the chalk! That would look amazing. I am SO SORRY to hear about your brother.

This is lovely :)
too fun!!!
looks like a chalkboard was just destined to be there!
gorgeous, thanks for sharing :)
WOWZA!! This is EXCELLENT work!! I love to watch inspired people make stuff from PB catalogs and the like. You did a fabulous job!
I am always drawn to anything chalkboard and have seen the ones in the PB catalog. Yours came out great! I didn't know chalkboards had to be seasoned... I have become a follower of your blog and would love to have you follow mine!
Good luck in the contest!!
I missed this post when you originally posted so I'm glad you linked up! It looks great and definitely beats the price of the PB one! Do you still use it?
Nothing better than a good PB knock-off. I love it and your beautiful handwriting is perfect! Coming over from Beth's. Lisa
